Andrea Kimi Antonelli has been a common name in recent weeks. The 17-year-old super-talent is being tipped as a star of the future with rumours of a race debut linking him to a drive at Imola – but such a scenario is very unlikely.
Recently, there has been a lot of buzz surrounding Italian talent Andrea Kimi Antonelli, who is currently driving in Formula 2 with Prema and is part of the Mercedes junior program. Antonelli’s upcoming tests in Mercedes F1 cars and a dispensation request for his super licence have garnered attention. Williams is reportedly aiming to replace Logan Sargeant with Antonelli, who is turning 18 on August 25. Williams has applied for a dispensation to potentially have Antonelli race at Imola, but team principal James Vowles denied this rumor. While a deviation from FIA rules is unlikely, a dispensation for a free practice session could allow Antonelli some F1 experience. The prospect of Antonelli debuting at Monza, his home race, remains a possibility later in the season.
